Bosch Equipment List

General Overview

The Bosch D-Jetronic was introduced by Volvo as the first electronic injection system on the 1800E for the first model year 1970.  Since only a few specialists are familiar with this system today, the following informations are an overview of the individual components in the corresponding models.

Model year information:

VOLVO always changes model-year after the end of the summer factory holidays. The 1970 model year therefore starts in August 1969 and ends in July 1970.

The D-Jetronic was installed at Volvo in the following model series:

  • 1800E with engine B20E and B20F from model year 1970 to 1972
  • 1800ES with engine B20E and B20F from model year 1972 to 1973
  • 144 with engine B20E and B20F from model year 1971 to 1973
  • 164 with engine B30E and B 30F from model year 1971 to 1974
  • 164 Special version model year 1975 with engine B30F with 30% Oxykat only for USA

The VOLVO equipment list Bosch D-Jetronic and the component list apply exclusively to models with B20 E/F engines, but not to models with B30 E/F engines.

Components


 Control Unit (ECU)

  • 1800 E and 144 model year 09.1969 to 05.1971 Bosch 0 280 000 009 and 017.
  • Without potentiometer, with cold-start control via cold-start relay.
  • From model year 06.1971 onwards Bosch 0 280 000 034 with potentiometer and cold start valve controlled by a thermal timer.
  • When installing a newer version of the control unit (from model year 06.1971), it must be converted to a thermal timer switch.

Fuel Filter

  • Model year 09.1969 – 05.1971 Bosch 0 450 902 001 on suction side, plastic housing
  • Model year 06.1971 – 07.1973 Bosch 0 450 903 003 on charge side with aluminium housing

Electric Fuel Pump

  • Model year 09.1969 – 02.1971 Bosch 0 580 960 008
  • Model year 03.1971 – 07.1973 Bosch 0 580 464 007 (Improved version)

System Pressure Regulator

  • Model year 09.1969 – 05.1971 Bosch 0 280 160 001 Mounting on heating box
  • Model year 06.1971 – 07.1973 Bosch 0 280 160 003 Installation in the distributor pipe
    Attention!  There are new spare parts, where the pressure no longer can be adjusted ! 

Injector Valves

  • Bosch numbers 0 280 150 003 should no longer be used, as they may leak due to cracks in the plastic. Replacement: 015, 024, 036 and 043. 
  • Pay attention to the tip of the injector with the small sealing ring to ensure the correct inner diameter (8 or 9.4 mm) 

Pressure Sensor

  • Model year 09.1969 – 05.1971 Bosch 0 280 100 010
  • Model year 06.1971 – 07.1973 Bosch 0 280 100 015 (mounting turned by 108°)
  • Model year 05.1971 – 07.1973 Bosch 0 280 100 035 (Engine B20F low octane rating)

Attention! The assignment E or F is very important (different octane numbers) 

Cold Start Valve

  • Model year 09.1969 – 07.1973 Bosch 0 280 100 010 

Thermal Time Switch (TTS)

  • Model year 07.1971 – 07.1973 Bosch 0 280 130 200 

Trottle Position Switch (TPS)

  • New version Bosch 0 280 120 039 with clipped cover can easily be replaced.
  • The earlier versions Bosch 0 280 120 012 and 0 280 120 026 with screwed cover should no longer be used. Great wear and tear on conductor tracks. 

Auxiliary Air Valve (AAV) 

  • B20 all .Bosch 0 280 140 013
  • B30 all .Bosch 0 280 140 021 (not compatible ,other form 06)
